But if you show favoritism, you sin and are convicted by the law as lawbreakers. For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it.James 2:9-10
It's easy to think that favoritism is a small thing. Sure, we like to justify it with statements like, "Well, I just prefer..." But favoritism is a sin.
And every time we show favoritism; every time we discriminate, we are making a mockery of God's creative genius. We're essentially saying, "God, you did a good job with that, but not so much with this."
When it comes to the people God created (which is everyone), we shouldn't show favoritism. Instead, we should see everyone for who they really are—loved by God.
Every time you lock eyes with someone, you are looking at a person who is so valuable, so precious, that God sent his only Son to die for them on the cross. And because they matter that much to God, they should matter that much to you.
So the next time you feel like showing favoritism, take a moment to think about what Christ did for you. And remember that he did it for that person as well.

 		A Prayer for Today
Dear Lord, It is so easy for me to pick and choose the people I want to accept. But when I lean towards discriminating or showing favoritism, help me to remember that you love that person just as much as you love me. And help me to see the value they have in your eyes. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
