Can You Prove It?

Daily E-votional from Ed Young Ministries
May 14, 2008 Web Version
Speak and act as those who are going to be judged by the law that gives freedom.
James 2:12

If you are a Christian, how do people know it? Really. If you really boiled it down, what evidence do people have that you have accepted Christ as your Savior? It all comes down to our actions, how we behave and treat people.

Now, our actions, behavior and attitudes don't save us. We can't get to heaven by doing good. Only faith in Jesus can secure our eternity. But real faith is seen through the things we do. In other words, our talk and our walk must be in sync.

God sends all kinds of people into our lives; people from different cultures and backgrounds, needy people, healthy people, people who look one way and people who look another. And he wants us to treat them in a way that will reveal his Son to them. He wants us to speak and act in ways that reflect the mercy, grace and forgiveness that he has given every one of us.

So as you go through each day, look for ways to show compassion, exhibit kindness and offer forgiveness. Find ways to treat others as Christ has treated you; and discover just want it means to "be judged by the law that gives freedom."

A Prayer for Today

Dear God, As I go through life, help me to treat other people the way that you have treated me—with love, mercy and forgiveness. And help me to reveal Jesus to every person I meet through my words, thoughts and actions. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
